Sarah's Handmade Ice Cream Fallsgrove makes its ice cream right on site, and the case runs to 40 flavors. The company says it works with all-natural ingredients of top quality. Expect old-school classics next to seasonal picks, plus vegan scoops and even ice cream made for your dog.
The shop's website describes a mother-daughter team behind the business. Sarah started making ice cream for her daughter Annie in South Korea in the early '90s. She moved to Bethesda in 2000 and went back to the hobby after retiring in 2018.
Beyond the scoop counter, the website lists catering for events big and small, custom ice cream cakes and pies, and online ordering for pickup or delivery.
The doors open at 11 am and close at 9 pm, seven days a week. The shop holds a 4.8 rating across 559 Google reviews. Reviewers keep coming back to the friendly staff and the big range of flavors.
Several also point to the vegan and gluten-free choices as standouts. A few regulars mention how clean the place is and say they plan to work through every flavor.
Rockville is home to 67,563 people as of 2025, per the Census Bureau, and sits in Montgomery County. NOAA normals for 1991 to 2020 put yearly precipitation at 46.5 inches and snowfall at 32.0 inches.
One tip: the company says its special seasonal flavors may only turn up at the scoop shops and its own online shop, and delivery apps may skip the limited batches. If one of those is on your list, walk in any day after 11 am and try it at the counter.
Sarah's Handmade crafts site-made ice cream made from the highest quality and all-natural ingredients. Each of 4 scoop shops features 40 site-made flavors that Sarah is “proud serving to her own family.” From nostalgic classics, seasonally inspired flavors, vegan options, to doggie ice cream, Sarah’s Handmade Ice Cream offers something for everyone.
