Fresh fruit, vegetables and deli counters in Ottawa
Fresh fruit and vegetables are the main event at Produce Depot. The company says its buyers go to the market every day and pick stock for quality and variety. It also describes itself as locally owned and operated, with two stores in Ottawa.
Produce is only part of the shop. The website names a cheese and dairy counter, a baked goods section and a butcher shop with a deli. If you're hosting, the store says it makes cheese platters, prepared fruit baskets and cold cut trays, so get in touch ahead of time for details.
The staff pitch is simple. The company says its people know their stuff and are glad to help you track down what you need. On Google it holds a 4.5 rating from 1445 reviews.
Before you head to Produce Depot
The store opens seven days a week. Weekly specials go out by newsletter, and the company says subscribers are entered in a weekly draw for a $100 gift card, with a winner named every Friday. The website also lists recipes, from an avocado fruit salad to a meatless eggplant parmesan.
Ottawa gets 942 mm of precipitation and 224 cm of snow a year, per Environment Canada normals for 1981-2010. The city counted 1,017,449 people in 2021, per Statistics Canada.
Since it opens every day, Sunday works just as well as a weekday for stocking up on fruit and vegetables for the week ahead.

Truly exceptional store. When they say they offer the fresher products they mean it. Awesome atmosphere too and love the variety of organic and healthy preparations, it is really easy to find what you need.
